Fresh Animations: Mobs, Setup & Version Downloads
Give familiar mobs more expressive poses and movement. See creator examples, choose the right Fresh Animations version, and set up EMF + ETF for villages, farms and exploration.
Project by FreshLX · Published · Updated
Fresh Animations makes familiar Minecraft creatures more expressive through new models and animations. Villagers, farm animals, monsters and aquatic mobs gain more lively poses and movement while keeping a recognisably vanilla style. It is a resource pack by FreshLX, with a separate model-support requirement.
This is a visual change: a better-looking attack does not give a mob a new combat ability, and a more expressive villager does not offer different trades. You can use it in your existing world without rebuilding your base or learning new controls.

Where you will notice the difference
- Village life: spend a little time around villagers and an iron golem instead of judging the pack from a still spawn egg. Movement and changing poses are the point. It suits a market square or a busy settlement you regularly visit.
- Farms and animal shelters: observe the animals you already keep while feeding or moving them. A pen beside a path or a viewing window gives you a better view than a tightly packed farm where models overlap.
- Exploration: watch wildlife and aquatic mobs during normal travel. The pack is useful when you want familiar places to feel more animated without replacing the world’s block textures.
- Combat and raids: hostile mobs become more visually expressive. Keep using ordinary Minecraft combat timing and distance; treat the presentation as decoration, not a new difficulty system.
- Screenshots and videos: let a mob act before capturing it. A village conversation, a fox’s movement or swimming fish gives a more interesting scene than a row of motionless creatures.
Creator examples: poses in context
These five images come from FreshLX’s official gallery and were added in February 2024. They illustrate the pack’s style in earlier releases, not fresh captures of 1.10.5. Still images show poses, not the complete animation. The scene lighting is separate from Fresh Animations; the pack does not supply the shaders or the builds. 1.10.5 Beta — Java 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2. Released April 1, 2026. This release updates mob texture paths for the newer game, adjusts the fox pounce and dolphin eyes, and removes unsupported baby models. It does not support pre-26.1 Minecraft.

1.10.4 Beta — Java 1.20 through 1.21.11. Released February 24, 2026. Keep this separate older branch if you play those versions. Both supplied releases are labelled Beta by FreshLX.

Required setup: Fabric for Java 26.2
For the 1.10.5 pack on Fabric + Java 26.2, install both mods below. Entity Model Features reads the custom models and animations; Entity Texture Features is its required companion. Put their JARs in mods, and put the Fresh Animations ZIP in resourcepacks.
Entity Model Features 3.3.5 — Fabric 26.2.

Entity Texture Features 7.2.1 — Fabric 26.2.
entity_texture_features-7.2.1-26.2-fabric.jar 752.19 Kb3 downloads View download
These two JARs are specifically for Java 26.2. For 26.1.x, older Minecraft or another loader, select matching EMF and ETF files from their official version lists. Do not put a Fabric 26.2 JAR into an older or NeoForge instance. The resource-pack ZIP itself is not a Fabric mod.
A separate Fabric API is not declared as a requirement by these two builds. Other installed mods may need it. If you already have a compatible EMF + ETF setup, keep one matching copy of each mod; downloading duplicates will not improve the animations.
Enable it and see your first animated mobs
- Use a Fabric installation for Java 26.2 if you are using the JARs above. Close Minecraft before changing its
modsfolder. - Place the two matching JARs in that instance’s
modsfolder. - Launch the instance, open Options → Resource Packs → Open Pack Folder, and copy
FreshAnimations_v1.10.5.zipthere without extracting it. - Move Fresh Animations into the enabled list and select Done. Let the resource reload finish.
- Visit a village or your animal enclosure. For a quick look in a separate Creative world, use a few spawn eggs for different supported mobs and give them room to move.
There is no activation key or special item. Once the pack and its requirements are enabled, supported mobs use it automatically. Disable the pack to return to their ordinary appearance. It is client-side: other players need their own visual setup to see the same animations.
Pack order and optional extras
Start with Fresh Animations as your only entity-model pack. After it works, restore your usual block texture pack. Two packs replacing the same mob model can overwrite each other; look for an explicit Fresh Animations compatibility patch instead of repeatedly rearranging unrelated packs.
Fresh Animations Extensions are optional packs with extra features. Put a chosen extension above the base pack as its instructions specify. Begin with one extension so you can tell what it changes. The base download does not include every extension.
Shaders are optional and affect a different part of the scene. You can enjoy animated mobs with ordinary Minecraft lighting. Sodium is compatible with the EMF approach, but Sodium alone does not provide custom entity models.
Does it animate every mob?
No. The project is still being expanded, and the creator’s list separates completed mobs from planned additions. A mob remaining unchanged is not automatically an installation failure. The downloaded 1.10.5 also deliberately omits unsupported baby models, so an older gallery scene is not a promise about every baby animal in Java 26.x.
The base pack is about creatures, not a complete player-animation overhaul. Do not expect every movement of your own character to change just because you enabled it.
Fix blank eyes, unchanged models and conflicts
Blank eyes or no new animations across supported mobs: confirm that both EMF and ETF actually loaded in the instance you launched. Try only those two mods and Fresh Animations first. If that works, add your other visual packs back one at a time. If it still fails, the creator recommends resetting EMF settings.
Only one mob has mixed textures or a strange model: disable the pack that also changes that entity. A texture-only pack and a model pack do not always fit together; use a compatibility patch when its author provides one.
The ZIP is missing from the pack list: use Open Pack Folder from the running instance. Different launcher instances can have different resourcepacks directories. Do not put the ZIP in mods.
You use OptiFine: Fresh Animations also supports its custom-entity-model approach on compatible versions. Enable Video Settings → Quality → Custom Entity Models. Choose either this route or EMF + ETF; EMF is incompatible with OptiFine/OptiFabric and competing CEM implementations in the same instance.
Dense crowds feel slower: try fewer visible mobs and turn off optional shaders before changing the pack. Animated entities can add rendering work, especially when many overlap. There is no single FPS result that applies to every village, farm and computer.
Continue your setup
For the EMF + ETF setup described here, see the separate Entity Model Features installation guide and Entity Texture Features setup guide. If another resource pack changes the same mobs, review resource pack order and conflict checks before adding more extensions.
