Spring to Life released March 25, 2025. The exact boundary for this guide is Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.5 and Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.70. Mojang Studios is the creator. Use the complete edition/version tuple before deciding that an ambient plant, sound, or mob variant is missing.

Make the first session a biome survey

The official Bedrock changelog adds ambient plants and sounds alongside new mob variants. It describes Firefly Bushes that emit particles in darkness, illuminate nearby space, and produce ambient sounds at night when the sky is visible. It also adds Cactus Flowers, Leaf Litter, Bushes, and short and tall dry grass with biome-specific placement rules.

This is an exploration and landscaping release, not a reason to rebuild the base immediately. Begin with a survey route. Visit water edges after dark for the Firefly Bush conditions described in the Bedrock record. Keep desert and badlands plants separate from forest-floor materials. Use a small test plot to compare Leaf Litter orientation and density before applying it across an established build.

Safe update path for an old world

1. Record the current edition, full version, seed, server or Realm state, packs, add-ons, and the coordinates of important builds.
2. Stop the world cleanly and make a complete backup outside the active save location.
3. Restore the backup to a disposable profile or server path. Prove that it opens, saves, closes, and reopens.
4. Update the copy to Java 1.21.5 or Bedrock 1.21.70.
5. Inspect familiar builds, entities, portals, farms, inventories, and pack behavior before exploring.
6. Use a marked route and collect only a small sample of each new landscaping material.
7. Promote the updated copy only after the owner accepts existing-world readback and the test plot.

The official changelogs do not guarantee that a particular old seed puts new plants next to an existing base. Failing to find them nearby is not proof of a broken installation. Preserve the coordinates and whether the area was previously explored when documenting the result.

Useful survey checklist

• Take a bed, ordinary tools, labeled storage, and a way to record coordinates.
• Separate daytime plant collection from nighttime ambience observation.
• For Firefly Bushes, record darkness, nearby light, water-edge context, time, sky visibility, edition, and graphics settings.
• Build one small plot for Leaf Litter, Bushes, Cactus Flowers, and dry grass rather than mixing every material into the main build.
• Compare the same scene without promising identical particles or sounds across devices.

Troubleshoot and rollback

If an expected material is absent, verify the edition and complete release number, then consult the matching changelog for its placement rule. If ambience differs, record time, light, sky visibility, graphics, sound settings, and device before calling it a content failure. If a pack changes textures or particles, reproduce the copied world with the recorded pack order and remove only one optional layer at a time.

Stop the rollout if the world fails to save or reopen, existing entities or builds change unexpectedly, or a required pack becomes unusable. Rollback means restoring the verified pre-update world with its original version, packs, add-ons, permissions, and server files. It is not a promise that newer blocks will downgrade safely.
