Turn the copper systems into a small prototype

The official Java changelog identifies Copper Chests, Copper Golems, copper equipment, copper decorations, and Shelves. It says Copper Golems can move items from Copper Chests into matching or empty chests and can eventually oxidize into statues unless waxed. It also says Shelves hold three stacks, while powered connected Shelves can exchange contents with hotbar slots.

Those mechanics invite a huge storage rebuild, but the safer first step is a test bay. Place one clearly labeled Copper Chest as input, a few ordinary destination chests, and only disposable items. Observe where items go before expanding the line. Keep sorting behavior separate from oxidation: wax one comparison subject and leave another exposed. Test a powered Shelf with expendable blocks before putting tools, enchanted gear, or rare materials into the hotbar.

Write down the layout before each change. Capture chest contents, power state, wax state, and the order of the hotbar. A useful test answers one question at a time: whether an item moves, where it moves, or whether a Shelf exchange matches the planned slot. It does not turn a short observation into a universal farm design.

• Items reach the wrong chest: label the test inventory, empty unrelated destinations, and record the observed route without assuming a throughput guarantee.
• Oxidation changes the plan: compare waxed and unwaxed subjects. Keep appearance tests separate from item-routing tests.
• Shelf swap surprises the player: repeat with disposable items, stable power, and a recorded hotbar order.
• Existing automation breaks: stop expanding the prototype and retest the copied pre-update world with the original version and pack order.

Rollback boundary

Rollback is a restore, not a downgrade experiment. Return the verified pre-update world together with the original game version, server files, packs, add-ons, and permissions. Do not assume copper blocks, entities, or inventories saved by the newer release will remain valid in an older one.
