Sodium Extra 0.9.3 for Minecraft 26.2: Setup & Fixes

Minecraft Java performance settings

Sodium Extra extends Sodium’s video-settings coverage; it is not a replacement renderer and it does not guarantee more FPS by being installed. For Java 26.2, creator-listed 0.9.3 releases exist for Fabric and NeoForge. Both require Sodium, while Iris, Reese’s Sodium Options, and Greenlight are optional integrations.

Choose the exact 26.2 build

These files are client-side and licensed LGPL-3.0-only. Quilt appears in the broader project compatibility, but the selected 26.2 release record is labeled Fabric rather than Quilt. Treat Quilt behavior as unverified for this exact package unless the creator’s current loader guidance explicitly confirms it.

Understand who owns each option

Sodium owns the renderer and its core options. Sodium Extra contributes additional toggles and menus for features beyond that base. Reese’s Sodium Options can change the way settings are organized and searched. Iris adds shader-related behavior. Greenlight is another optional relation in the creator metadata. A missing option therefore has several possible owners; resetting every configuration at once erases the evidence needed to tell them apart.

Before changing a setting, write down its page, label, current value, and the visible result you expect. If the option disappears after an update, first confirm which mod supplied it in the previous profile. A menu layout change is not the same as a renderer failure.

Install with a reversible baseline

1. Create a separate Java 26.2 instance with the correct Fabric or NeoForge loader.
2. Install the creator-matched Sodium build for that loader and confirm Minecraft reaches the title screen.
3. Add only Sodium Extra 0.9.3 for the same loader. Open Video Settings and record the available pages.
4. Change one low-risk option, apply it, exit the menu, and reopen it to confirm persistence.
5. Add Reese’s Sodium Options, Iris, or Greenlight individually only if you need that integration. Capture the menu after each addition.

Keep the old configuration files outside the active profile before upgrading. Never copy the Fabric and NeoForge JARs into the same instance, and do not assume two projects with “Sodium” in their names share a version number.

Recover from missing controls or visual problems

If the menu does not open, read the latest log for a missing Sodium dependency or loader mismatch. If a control is absent, return to Sodium plus Sodium Extra only. If it reappears, restore optional integrations one at a time. If it remains absent, compare the current creator changelog and the previous known-good pair before deleting any configuration.

If the game renders incorrectly after a toggle, restore that single option first. Use the same world position, resource pack, shader state, resolution, VSync, and frame cap for comparison. A higher peak FPS does not compensate for broken chunk edges, particles, fog, animations, or menus. Record frame-time behavior during a repeatable route rather than reporting one momentary counter value.

Rollback and update discipline

Close Minecraft, retain the log and current config, remove only Sodium Extra, and relaunch with the same Sodium build. If the baseline is restored, add the mod back with a fresh default config before importing individual previous values. Rolling back Sodium at the same time changes two variables and makes the diagnosis weaker. Keep the previous matched JAR pair until the new pair passes an ordinary play session and a restart.

Prepare a useful support report

When the problem remains, report Minecraft version, loader, Sodium and Sodium Extra version IDs, optional integrations, Java runtime, GPU, driver, and the exact setting or screen. Include the latest log and one before/after screenshot with private server addresses removed. State whether the fault reproduces with only Sodium and Sodium Extra. That small matrix gives the creator a real starting point and prevents an optional menu problem from being reported as a Sodium Extra renderer defect.
