Current release check: Pastel Shaders 1.200 is a Java shader pack for Iris and OptiFine. The current creator release was published June 13, 2024 and lists Minecraft 1.7.10 through 1.21—nothing newer.
Pastel’s purpose is a soft, colorful image with pink, blue, and yellow preset palettes, clear starry skies, and approachable quick settings. Choose it for that palette-driven mood, not because an old project description says it runs on low-end or integrated graphics. MineBrush has no benchmark for your hardware.

Do not read “Universal” as support for every later Minecraft build. Version 1.200 specifically fixed a loading issue with Iris 1.7 on Minecraft 1.21. The official project has not published a release labeled for 1.21.1–1.21.11 or 26.x.
Pastel is a palette choice first
The project presents three preset directions: pinkish, blueish, and yellowish. Its broader visual pitch is a near-vanilla atmosphere with clear starry skies, sunsets, and sunrises. Quick settings provide an easier first layer, while advanced controls allow deeper customization.
Pastel is described as the visual opposite sibling of Insanity and is based on BSL. That relationship does not make the packs interchangeable:
- Choose Pastel for bright color direction, gentle sky mood, and a friendly palette workflow.
- Choose Insanity when the intentional goal is horror atmosphere and darkness.
- Choose a current actively maintained shader when your Minecraft build is newer than Pastel’s listed 1.21 ceiling.
MineBrush ID156 owns Insanity. ID30 owns generic Iris installation. This page stays with Pastel’s color presets, maintenance boundary, and gameplay readability.
Install only on a listed build
- Create a separate Java profile for Minecraft 1.21 or another explicitly listed version.
- Install a compatible Iris or OptiFine build and launch once without a shader.
- Download version ID
w3Pxx3b4from the creator-controlled versions page. - Place
Pastel-Shaders-Universal-v1.200.zipin that profile’sshaderpacksfolder without extracting it. - Select Pastel, keep the defaults for the first route, and disable unrelated PBR or visual packs.
If you use Minecraft 26.x, stop here. A file working accidentally on an unlabeled version would not create official support, and it would not justify publishing compatibility claims.
Compare the three palettes in useful scenes
Create five repeatable viewpoints: a material wall at noon, a village or colorful build, a forest, a water edge at sunset, and a torch-lit interior. Lock resolution, render distance, loader, resource packs, time, weather, and camera positions.
- Capture the default palette with no manual color changes.
- Switch to the pink preset and inspect white blocks, skin tones, foliage, fire, and redstone indicators.
- Repeat with blue and yellow, using the same world clock and exposure.
- Choose the palette that preserves gameplay-critical color differences, not only the prettiest sunset.
- Change one quick setting, replay the route, and save the first stable profile.
Readability failures are palette evidence
| Symptom | First action | What it tests |
|---|---|---|
| White blocks lose shape at noon | Reduce exposure or brightness-related settings | Highlight separation |
| Ores or redstone signals blend into stone | Return to the default palette, then compare one color preset | Gameplay color separation |
| Caves become too flat | Test without the resource pack before changing shader color controls | Shader versus texture-stack ownership |
| The ZIP is missing from the menu | Confirm the active instance and intact archive location | Profile path or nested file |
| Minecraft 26.x shows broken rendering | Return to a listed build instead of debugging an unsupported tuple | Maintenance ceiling |
Treat performance language as unverified
The creator calls Pastel performant and mentions modern low-end GPUs and integrated graphics. The page supplies no device matrix that can predict your resolution, driver, loader, render distance, modpack, or thermal behavior. Benchmark the entire same-camera route after warm-up and report frame time, low-frame behavior, and visible correctness.
MineBrush has not downloaded or run version 1.200. Exact Iris/OptiFine parity, later-game compatibility, FPS, memory, temperature, battery, recording behavior, and every preset result remain unknown.
Rights and support boundary
Pastel Shaders is labeled All Rights Reserved. The current project exposes no source repository or issue tracker. Do not mirror its ZIP or creator gallery, publish modified builds, or infer redistribution rights from its relationship to BSL or Insanity.
