Low On Fire makes the flames covering the player's screen shorter while the player is burning. The current 26.2 release is a plain Java resource pack for Minecraft 26.2, 26.1.x, 1.21.x, and 1.20.x. It does not require OptiFine.

Use Low On Fire when the vanilla overlay is uncomfortable or hides too much of the first-person view. Do not describe it as fire resistance, a damage reduction, a particle remover, or a server-side combat mod.

The project description still contains an older heading that mentions versions from 1.21.9 down to 1.8. The newer 26.2 release record is the correct source for the selected file's current labels. Older players should choose a historical release that explicitly lists their exact game version rather than assuming the newest ZIP covers every legacy build.
Install the ZIP without turning it into a mod
- Open the creator's version list and select the row that includes your exact Java version.
- Keep the ZIP compressed and preserve the creator filename.
- Place it in the profile's resource-pack folder.
- Enable Low On Fire in Resource Packs and reload assets.
- Test it alone before enabling another HUD or fire-texture pack.
This is a client presentation pack. A dedicated server does not need the ZIP for the documented baseline. A server may use a resource-pack delivery system, but that path, consent flow, and priority were not tested here.
Use a controlled comparison, not a live fight
Create a disposable Creative test world or another safe repeatable setup. Record FOV, GUI scale, video settings, shader state, and pack order. Compare one brief burning state with the pack disabled and enabled, then extinguish the player and confirm ordinary placed fire still uses its normal world appearance.
The check should answer two visual questions: does the overlay sit lower, and do other HUD elements remain readable? It is not a damage test. Do not use a valuable survival inventory or a public match as the first experiment.
Pack priority controls direct conflicts
A direct conflict occurs when another resource pack replaces the same first-person fire-overlay texture. The higher-priority asset wins. A large texture pack may include a fire overlay even when its title does not mention fire, so test Low On Fire alone first.
After the baseline works, enable the main visual pack beneath it and repeat the same scene. If the vanilla-height overlay returns, change only those two pack positions and reload. Packs that alter unrelated blocks, items, fonts, or sounds are not automatically conflicts.
Shaders and HUD mods are separate layers
A shader can change lighting around fire without replacing the first-person overlay asset. A HUD or accessibility mod may move or recolor other information on screen. If the result becomes hard to read, isolate the shader, HUD mod, and resource-pack priority one at a time instead of labeling the whole stack incompatible.
No shader, renderer, FOV, GUI scale, or accessibility configuration was tested by MineBrush. A screenshot from another setup does not guarantee the same framing on your display.
Visibility is not a performance or PvP result
The creator markets the pack for PvP or normal survival use, but MineBrush did not run a match, measure reaction time, or compare outcomes. Lowering an overlay can make the screen easier for a player to read; it does not prove a competitive advantage, fairness classification, or server acceptance.
There is also no FPS or frame-time benchmark. Avoid claims that the pack boosts performance or stops frame drops. Measure a repeatable scene on the same hardware if that question matters.
Troubleshooting by symptom

Update, roll back, or remove it
Keep the working ZIP and a note of its pack priority before updating. Enable the new exact release, reload resources, and repeat the same controlled fire-overlay check. If the result is wrong, restore the previous ZIP and order.
To remove Low On Fire, disable it and reload assets. Its creator-described scope is client presentation, but cache behavior, every historical pack format, and server-delivered overrides were not tested. Do not delete unrelated texture packs while troubleshooting.

Does Low On Fire reduce fire damage?
No. The documented change is the first-person overlay, not gameplay damage or burn time.
Does it change fire blocks in the world?
The creator says placed fire remains unchanged.
Do I need OptiFine?
No. The project explicitly says OptiFine is not required.
Is there a Forge or Fabric file?
The selected item is a resource-pack ZIP rather than a loader-specific mod. Loader mods in the surrounding profile remain separate.
Will it improve FPS?
No performance result was measured. The pack's documented value is reduced visual obstruction.
