Dynamic FPS is a client-side utility for reducing Minecraft's resource use when the game is unfocused, hidden, idle, or running on battery. It does not optimize world generation, server tick speed, or network latency. Its useful job is narrower: stop a background Minecraft window from rendering and playing audio as if you were actively using it.
The current creator-listed release checked August 28, 2026 is Dynamic FPS 3.11.9 for Minecraft Java 26.2. MineBrush has not launched these files or measured CPU, GPU, battery, temperature, memory, or reconnect behavior. Use this as a source-backed setup and test route, not a guaranteed battery-life or FPS claim.
Loader label note: this guide uses Fabric as the primary walkthrough route in the compatibility card. It is not an exclusivity claim: the exact creator records below also cover Quilt through the Fabric build and provide a separate NeoForge build. Match the file and relations to the loader in your own instance.

Use only one loader route. Do not put the Fabric and NeoForge JARs in the same instance. The Fabric record lists Fabric API as required. Mod Menu and Cloth Config provide the normal in-game settings route on Fabric; they are not evidence that every other loader needs the same pair.
What the mod can control
The creator project page separates several states: active, hovered, unfocused, invisible, idle, and on battery. Each state can have its own frame-rate, volume, and notification behavior. The project also describes stopping world rendering while the resource-loading overlay hides it and addressing unnecessary background CPU use.
That means “background FPS” is not one universal switch. A minimized window, a window behind another app, and an idle but focused game can produce different results. Record which state you are testing before changing a limit.
Install with a reversible profile
- Confirm the instance is Minecraft Java 26.2 and note its loader.
- Close Minecraft, then copy the working profile or its config and mods folders.
- Install the matching Dynamic FPS JAR and the relations declared for that exact file.
- Launch to the title screen and confirm the expected settings route is present.
- Open a copied world, save, quit, and reopen before testing background behavior.
The 3.11.9 changelog says it fixes background tasks not shutting down and causing a crash when quitting. That is the creator's release note, not proof that every shutdown problem comes from Dynamic FPS or that the release fixes unrelated mod interactions.
Build a useful background test
Choose a quiet single-player scene and keep render distance, resolution, shader state, frame cap, and mod list unchanged. Record four equal intervals: focused play, unfocused window, minimized or fully obscured window, and restored focus. Note the observed FPS cap, audio level, toast behavior, and how quickly input responds after restoration.
If you are testing a laptop or handheld, run the same route once on external power and once on battery. Do not compare different worlds, temperatures, power profiles, or background applications. Battery percentage over a few minutes is noisy; use it only as a local observation, not a universal runtime claim.
Fix common problems
The game stays at a low FPS after focus returns
Confirm which state Dynamic FPS thinks is active, then reset only that state's limit. Remove duplicate JARs and temporarily test without window-management or overlay utilities. Keep the log and exact 3.11.9 loader tuple if the state never resets.
The settings screen is missing
On Fabric, check the exact Fabric API relation first, then add the optional Mod Menu and Cloth Config route if you want the normal in-game screen. Do not replace a missing UI with a dependency from a different Minecraft version.
Audio mutes or notifications pause unexpectedly
Check the volume and toast values for unfocused, invisible, idle, and battery states separately. Restore one state to its default and repeat the same timeline. This isolates configuration from another audio or notification mod.
Battery integration asks for another component
The project discloses that enabling battery integration can download an additional library at runtime and verifies it against embedded hashes. The creator says the behavior can be disabled or the library installed manually. Decide whether that runtime fetch fits your pack policy before enabling it.
