FancyMenu lets Minecraft Java players and modpack creators replace or rearrange menus, backgrounds, buttons, text, images, animations, and conditional elements. It can make a pack feel like a coherent product, but it also controls the screens you need to launch worlds, join servers, change options, and quit. A broken layout therefore needs a recovery plan before it needs more decoration.
The selected current tuple is FancyMenu 3.9.12 for Minecraft 26.2. MineBrush has not imported a layout, opened the editor, or tested persistence across launchers and operating systems. This guide uses creator metadata and documentation boundaries only.
Loader label note: this guide uses Fabric as the primary walkthrough route in the compatibility card. Fabric is not the only supported loader: the exact creator records below also include a separate NeoForge file with a different dependency set. Follow the row that matches your instance.
Choose the correct loader route
| Profile | Version ID | Required project relations |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft 26.2 + Fabric | CTbxOFtA |
Konkrete, Melody, and Fabric API |
| Minecraft 26.2 + NeoForge | DwyGvs34 |
Melody and Konkrete |
Use the dependency builds made for the same Minecraft version and loader. Do not copy a Fabric library into NeoForge or keep old and new FancyMenu JARs together. The project can operate as a client-side menu mod; its optional server features do not make a server installation a substitute for the client mod.
Separate the mod from the layout
FancyMenu is the runtime and editor. A menu pack or layout is a separate configuration layer. When a title screen breaks, first identify whether the base mod, a dependency, the imported layout, or another screen-modification mod owns the failure. Removing every file at once destroys that evidence.
Before importing or editing, copy the instance's FancyMenu configuration directory and record the mod, loader, Konkrete, Melody, Fabric API, and layout versions. Give the backup a date and profile name. Do not treat a screenshot of a working title screen as proof that every pause, multiplayer, options, and confirmation screen works.
Use a safe acceptance checklist
- Launch the base game with FancyMenu and its exact dependencies but no third-party layout.
- Open Singleplayer, Multiplayer, Options, Accessibility, Resource Packs, Mods, and Quit.
- Import the layout into a copied profile, then repeat every route.
- Check keyboard focus, mouse hover, scroll areas, small and large GUI scales, and a resized window.
- Enter a copied world and verify the pause, disconnect, confirmation, and error screens.
- Close Minecraft normally, reopen it, and confirm the chosen layout and controls persist.
The creator's 3.9.12 changelog says first-time fade-ins now continue more smoothly when a window is resized and no longer replay after a player leaves a screen before delayed appearances finish. Those are narrow animation fixes, not proof that a third-party layout or every navigation path works. Keep the only working layout copy outside the active profile before updating.
Recover a menu that blocks navigation
Stop launching the damaged profile repeatedly. Work on a copy of the instance. Move only the custom FancyMenu layout/config layer out of the copied profile, then launch with the same mod and dependency tuple. If vanilla navigation returns, the layout or its referenced assets are the main branch to inspect.
If navigation stays broken, restore the known-good dependency set and test FancyMenu without other menu, font, loading-screen, or GUI replacement mods. Preserve the latest log. Do not delete worlds; a title-screen layout problem does not establish world corruption.
Check pack ownership and remote content
A layout may reference images, fonts, video, web resources, variables, placeholders, or add-ons. Inventory every non-FancyMenu asset and its license before distributing a pack. A public URL is not automatically redistribution permission, and a layout license does not relicense third-party logos, screenshots, music, or fonts.
If a menu fetches remote content, test the offline state and an unreachable URL. The player still needs a usable way to reach worlds, servers, settings, and exit controls. Remote art or changelog panels should enhance navigation, not become a single point of failure.
Creator, license, and evidence
FancyMenu is created by Keksuccino. The current project and repository identify the license as DSMSLv3.1; do not relabel it as MIT or assume custom menu packs inherit permissive terms. Use the creator project, the exact version records, the source repository, and its changelog. This rewrite includes no creator layout, JAR, or media.
