Minecraft Bedrock 26.31 is a targeted reliability hotfix. It is especially relevant to Nintendo Switch families using split-screen, players stuck while joining an Experience with Screen Animations disabled, and anyone who could reproduce the documented server-connectivity or upward-dispenser issues.
The changelog is short, but its scopes are different. Two fixes are Switch-only, one belongs to a specific UI setting and join flow, one is a block-mechanics case, and one is a networking correction. Keeping those lanes separate makes the article useful instead of turning it into “servers are faster now.”
Bedrock 26.31 fix matrix
| Symptom | Documented fix | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Experience join hangs on loading | Players can join when Screen Animations is turned off. | The page names that setting and Experience flow, not every loading screen. |
| Multiple Switch guests cannot join | A split-screen guest ID collision was fixed. | Nintendo Switch guest flow; MCPE-239681. |
| Upward dispenser projectile does not launch | Projectiles fire into the air again from an upward-facing dispenser. | That orientation and projectile case; MCPE-239709. |
| Slow server connectivity | The documented connectivity issue was fixed. | Not a promise about ping, Wi-Fi quality, server tick rate or every join failure; MCPE-239705. |
| Gameplay crash | Several crashes were fixed. | The page does not enumerate their triggers. |
| Switch main-menu crash | The named main-menu crash was fixed. | Nintendo Switch; MCPE-238647. |
Switch split-screen retest
- Confirm the game displays 26.31 or later and fully restart the console.
- Open a low-stakes local world.
- Add the first guest, then add each additional guest one at a time.
- Verify that every guest reaches the world and can perform a normal action.
- Save, exit to the menu and repeat the join once.
If a guest still fails, record which slot failed, how many local users were signed in, whether the host used a local or linked account, and the exact message. Do not erase account or world data as a first response.
Screen Animations and the loading hang
The documented UI fix applies when Screen Animations is turned off and the player joins an Experience. Keep the setting off for the first retest and use the same Experience. If the join succeeds, restart Minecraft and repeat. If a different world or server hangs with Screen Animations on, that is not automatically the same bug.
Server connectivity without misleading benchmarks
Connectivity is the process of reaching and joining a server. Ping is round-trip network delay. Server tick performance describes how quickly the server simulates the world. Game FPS is local rendering. The 26.31 note addresses a slower server-connectivity issue; it does not claim all four improved.
Retest the same server, address and network. Note where the join stalls and preserve the exact error. If one server fails while another works, include that distinction. If all online services fail, check current service and account status before blaming the world or reinstalling packs.
Dispenser and crash checks
For MCPE-239709, place the dispenser facing upward, use the same projectile and trigger, then compare the launch after updating. A sideways dispenser or a non-projectile item is a different test.
“Several crashes” remains nonspecific. Only a crash you could repeat gives you a useful before-and-after case. Record the action, world, device and build, then run it once after a full restart. Keep a backup if the crash touches saved data.
Evidence and source
MineBrush has not performed Switch, account, server or crash-matrix testing for this article. The factual claims come from the official Minecraft Bedrock 26.31 changelog, posted June 22 and rechecked August 25, 2026.
