Minecraft Bedrock Preview and Beta 26.50.26 is a test build for Drop 3 changes, creator tooling and stability fixes. It is useful for checking future behaviour, but it is not the right build for your only survival world. This briefing explains what matters, where the build is available and how to test it without confusing Preview results with the stable game.
Update: Preview/Beta 26.50.27
On August 25, 2026, Mojang appended 26.50.27 to the same official changelog and described it as a smaller update with additional fixes and improvements. The detailed sections below remain a guide to the 26.50.26 changes published August 18; check the combined official changelog before testing because the build served to your device may now be 26.50.27.
Where 26.50.26 is available
Android
The test route is the Minecraft Beta through Google Play. Joining or leaving the beta can affect which app build the store serves, so back up worlds before enrollment changes.
iPhone and iPad
The test route is Minecraft Preview when a slot and supported distribution route are available. It is separate from the stable app.
Windows and consoles
Minecraft Preview is the named test application on supported Xbox, PlayStation and Windows routes.
Stable players
If you only want to play normal worlds, remain on the current stable Bedrock release and read this article as a forward-looking change log.
The changes players are most likely to notice
Drop 3 world generation
Abandoned Camps are less likely to intersect villages, and Mojang lists additional tree-generation fixes. These are generation changes: an old explored area may not demonstrate them, and a single seed is not enough to infer frequency. A useful comparison requires the same seed, matching settings and newly generated chunks.
Redstone and block behaviour
The changelog addresses comparators reading signals through honey blocks and chains. Redstone creators should recreate the smallest possible circuit in a disposable world and record both expected and observed output strength. Do not test inside a valuable technical world first.
Vibrant Visuals and rendering
The build includes several visual fixes: Vibrant Visuals with Education features, a fox-and-shelf mushroom interaction, a water rendering gap and a Windows maximum Vibrant Visuals view distance of 48 chunks. The last item is a ceiling, not a performance promise. Actual usable distance still depends on hardware, temperature, drivers, resolution and the scene.
World loading and long sessions
Mojang lists fixes for disconnects with certain add-on content, loading older chunks after a connection upgrade, stutter during long sessions or suspend/resume, and memory use associated with animated Character Creator skins. These items make the build interesting for QA, but a successful test on one device does not generalise to every add-on or world.
Creator-facing changes worth tracking
| Change | Why it matters | Safe test |
|---|---|---|
| Custom dimension heights from -512 to 512 restored | Dimension creators can validate bounds and content placement across the expanded supported range described by Mojang. | Use a development world, fixed coordinates and a written expected boundary. |
New world clock and /time of commands |
Command authors gain new ways to query or reason about time. | Record the command, permissions, dimension and returned value. |
| Experimental point-of-interest support | Creators can begin evaluating behaviour tied to points of interest before final release. | Keep experimental packs versioned separately; never promise stable compatibility. |
| Editor and creator fixes | Tooling changes can affect author workflows even when players see no new feature. | Compare the same project before and after the update and preserve logs. |
A clean Preview test protocol
- Write down the exact build. “Latest Preview” is not a reproducible version.
- Use a separate application/profile when the platform allows it. Never assume stable and Preview storage behave identically.
- Duplicate or export the world. The test copy must be disposable.
- Change one variable. One pack, one experiment or one graphics setting per pass.
- Capture before and after. Include the settings page, coordinates or command output needed to reproduce the observation.
- Save, quit and reload. Many content problems only become visible after a persistence cycle.
- Separate official claims from observations. A Mojang changelog statement is source-supported; a MineBrush test needs its own date, device, build and result.
Do not upgrade a primary world just to see a feature
Preview content can change or disappear before the stable release. Once a world is saved by a newer or experimental build, returning it to an older stable build may not be supported. Screenshots and exports are not substitutes for a world backup. If the purpose is only to understand the update, reading the official notes is safer than enrolling a daily-use device.
Stable or Preview?
Choose stable for normal play, Realms with friends and important worlds. Choose Preview/Beta only when you accept instability and have a specific feature, bug or add-on compatibility question to test.
