Minecraft Bedrock 26.45 is a focused hotfix, not a feature drop. Its practical value is concentrated in seven fixes that affect Android navigation, Pocket UI inventory handling, add-on worlds, commands, projectiles, custom dimensions and Vibrant Visuals. This guide separates the official change list from what MineBrush has not yet reproduced on a physical device.
Should you install 26.45?
Yes, after making a normal world backup. Update first if you use Android, Pocket UI or add-on worlds affected by disconnects. Server owners should review the /tell command change. Creators using custom dimensions should retest their packs after updating.
26.44 and 26.45: why two version numbers appear
Mojang published the changelog as the 26.44/45 Hotfix on August 14, 2026 and updated the official page on August 20. The page states that 26.45 is rolling out as it becomes available for each platform. That means two players can temporarily see different build numbers while both are following the same hotfix track. Check the version shown on the Minecraft title screen before comparing behaviour with another device.
What changed — practical impact table
| Area | Official fix | Who should care | What to check after updating |
|---|---|---|---|
| Android navigation | The Android Back button should perform the expected in-game back action instead of moving Minecraft to the background. | Android phone and tablet players. | Open inventory, settings and pause screens; use the system Back gesture/button from each layer. |
| Pocket UI | Shift-clicking in Creative inventory should quick-move an item rather than delete it. | Touch players using Pocket UI. | Use a disposable Creative world and move a visible item stack between slots. |
| Add-on worlds | A disconnect while loading worlds containing certain add-on content was addressed. | Players and creators using behavior/resource packs. | Duplicate the world, load the copy, save, leave and reopen it before trusting the main save. |
| Custom dimensions | An issue that caused minecraft:dimension_bounds in dimension JSON to be ignored was fixed. |
Bedrock add-on developers. | Retest height limits and teleport routes in a development copy. |
| Commands | /tell no longer expands self-selection for players without operator permission. |
Realm/server owners and command authors. | Test messages as a non-operator account, not only as an administrator. |
| Combat | A slightly charged bow shot should no longer hit the shooter. | Survival and multiplayer players. | Test only if the previous issue affected your play; no setting change is required. |
| Vibrant Visuals | Vibrant Visuals should no longer be disabled merely because Education features are enabled. | Visual creators and Education-enabled worlds. | Confirm the graphics mode is available after reopening a copied world. |
Safe update route for a phone or tablet
- Record your current build. Open Settings and note the exact version before the store update starts.
- Back up important worlds. Export them where the platform allows it, or create a duplicate from the world settings screen.
- Update through the official store. Use Google Play, the App Store, Microsoft Store or the console store linked to your account. MineBrush does not mirror the game installer.
- Open a disposable world first. Confirm menus, touch controls and inventory behaviour before opening a long-running survival save.
- Retest add-ons one group at a time. If a world fails, disable only the newest or most recently changed pack first so the cause remains traceable.
For add-on creators: a five-minute regression pass
Load
Import the pack into a copied world, enter the world and watch for disconnects or missing dependency messages.
Dimension
If the project defines a custom dimension, verify its lower and upper bounds and every portal or command route that enters it.
Save cycle
Change one observable state, save and quit, then reopen. A successful first load alone is not enough.
Clean log
Review the Content Log for new recipe, manifest, texture or dimension errors before publishing a compatibility claim.
What this hotfix does not prove
A changelog entry does not guarantee that every unrelated add-on is compatible, that a specific phone will run faster, or that all Marketplace content has been retested. Compatibility still depends on the add-on version, dependencies, experiments, world history and device. Keep the exact tuple together: Bedrock build + device/OS + pack version + world copy + observed result.
If the update creates a new problem
If the message says Outdated Client after the hotfix, use our Bedrock version-mismatch guide before changing worlds or add-ons.
- Do not repeatedly open and save the only copy of an affected world.
- Remove recent resource and behavior packs in a duplicate, one pair at a time.
- Restart Minecraft and the device after the store confirms installation.
- Capture the version screen and the exact error before changing more variables.
- Use the official issue IDs in the changelog when searching the Mojang bug tracker.
