Chaos Cubed is the Minecraft game drop built around sulfur caves, sulfur and cinnabar blocks, geysers, and the physics-driven sulfur cube mob. The final release landed on June 16, 2026 as Java Edition 26.2 and Bedrock Edition 26.30. Those numbers are not interchangeable: install the release for the edition you actually play.

This guide replaces the old pre-release summary. It uses Mojang's final Java and Bedrock changelogs plus the official Chaos Cubed overview. MineBrush has not run either build on a local world, server, console, phone, or Realm, so device performance and migration results remain untested.

Choose the correct Chaos Cubed release

Edition

Final release

Official record

Java Edition

26.2

Java Edition 26.2 changelog

Bedrock Edition

26.30

Bedrock 26.30 changelog

Update through the launcher or store used by your legitimate Minecraft installation. A Java 26.2 server still requires Java clients, and a Bedrock 26.30 world still requires Bedrock clients. Chaos Cubed does not create Java-to-Bedrock cross-play.

What Chaos Cubed adds

The final Java record lists the sulfur cube mob, sulfur caves, cinnabar and sulfur block sets, sulfur spikes, potent sulfur, the “Bounce” music disc, and additional music. Mojang's overview also describes geysers and the way sulfur cubes change movement or behavior after absorbing different blocks.

The drop is more than a decorative cave palette. A sulfur cube can take on different movement properties depending on the block it holds. The official overview highlights sticky, bouncy, explosive, hot, and slippery examples. Potent sulfur also participates in the geyser system. Treat these as gameplay systems to learn in a disposable test area before moving the mob or explosive setups into a valued base.

Build a safe first-session checklist

Record the current edition and exact version before updating.

Back up a valued world, or download a Realm backup through the platform's supported controls.

Update the game and every server participant to the matching edition release.

Open a new test world first and confirm the sulfur cave, sulfur cube, new blocks, and geyser behavior you intend to use.

Only then open a copy of the established world and check save, close, reopen, and multiplayer join behavior.

A successful title-screen launch does not prove that an old world, resource pack, add-on, datapack, server plugin, or modded profile is compatible. Change one layer at a time and preserve the last known-good copy.

Java Edition notes

Java 26.2 also introduces the Friends List and experimental Vulkan rendering support. “Experimental” matters: do not present Vulkan as a guaranteed FPS upgrade or a universal fix. Keep the existing graphics API available, record the GPU and driver, and compare the same world route before deciding whether the option belongs in the profile.

For servers, match the exact Java release on the client and server before diagnosing a join failure. Back up the server while it is stopped, then test start, join, save, stop, and restart. A gameplay feature appearing in single-player does not prove an unrelated mod or plugin is ready for 26.2.

Bedrock Edition notes

Bedrock 26.30 is the final Chaos Cubed release line in the official changelog. The official overview says the drop is available through single-player, multiplayer, servers, and Realms. That statement does not prove a specific add-on stack, older device, or Realm world copy will update without a problem.

On Bedrock, let the platform finish the game update before opening the world. For a Realm, preserve a backup and verify the active slot after the update. If members cannot join, compare their full Bedrock version numbers and separate game-version trouble from resource-pack download or add-on behavior.

Test sulfur cubes without wrecking a base

Use a flat or disposable test area with distance from builds, storage, pets, and redstone. Start with one sulfur cube and one non-destructive block interaction. Record what the cube absorbs and how its movement changes. Test TNT only after you understand the normal handling route and have nothing valuable in range.

Keep mob behavior, cave generation, block recipes, and performance as separate checks. Finding a sulfur cave does not prove a geyser setup works, and a working geyser does not prove that a crowded multiplayer area will run smoothly.

Chaos Cubed FAQ

Which versions include the final drop?

Mojang's final records identify Java Edition 26.2 and Bedrock Edition 26.30, both released June 16, 2026.

Is Chaos Cubed a paid add-on?

No. Mojang describes the game-drop content as a free update to an existing Minecraft installation. Separate Marketplace offers are not required for the core drop.

Can I use it on a Realm?

Mojang's official overview says the drop is available in Realms. Back up the world and match every player's edition and version before treating one successful join as proof for the whole group.

Does the update guarantee better performance?

No. The sources establish features and release versions, not FPS, frame-time, memory, battery, or server-tick results for a particular setup.

Sources and evidence boundary

Use the official Chaos Cubed overview, the Java 26.2 changelog, and the Bedrock 26.30 changelog for current first-party details.

Tiny Takeover is the first Minecraft game drop of 2026 in the official overview and released March 24, 2026. The exact boundary here is Minecraft Java Edition 26.1 and Minecraft Bedrock Edition 26.10. Mojang Studios is the creator. The new numbering makes the edition label especially important.

Choose the animal-care decision before using the item

On Java Edition 26.1, the official changelog says a Golden Dandelion is crafted from a Dandelion and Gold Nuggets. The Tiny Takeover overview says the item can keep a baby mob from growing. Treat that as a deliberate husbandry choice, not a decoration click. Decide which animal should remain young, separate it from the breeding group, and keep an ordinary comparison animal before spending the first item. Use the edition-specific changelog before assuming the Java recipe or interaction is identical on Bedrock 26.10.

The drop also adds craftable name tags and a trumpet note-block instrument. The official overview says the trumpet sound changes with the oxidation state of the copper block below it. A useful test uses four clearly labeled copper states under separate note blocks, away from the main redstone build. That turns an audio surprise into a repeatable comparison.

Use the same note, power pulse, listening position, and sound settings for each copper state. Change only the block below the note block when comparing the result.

Exact release tuple

Field

Required boundary

Creator

Mojang Studios

Java release

26.1

Bedrock release

26.10

Release date

March 24, 2026

Distribution

Official Minecraft game update

Java 26.1 and Bedrock 26.10 are different edition identifiers for the same named drop. They are not interchangeable server versions. Use the matching official changelog for exact recipes, fixes, commands, controls, and platform notes. MineBrush did not test spawn odds, complete baby-mob animation tables, old-world outcomes, or third-party pack compatibility.

Safe update path

Record the edition, full version, world owner, server or Realm version, packs, add-ons, permissions, breeding areas, and important named mobs.

Stop the world cleanly and make a complete backup outside the active directory.

Restore that backup into a disposable profile or server path. Open, save, close, and reopen it before updating.

Update the copy to Java 26.1 or Bedrock 26.10.

Inspect existing animals, name tags, redstone, note blocks, copper builds, inventories, and pack behavior.

Test one expendable breeding pair and one Golden Dandelion decision before applying it throughout the farm.

Build the copper-state trumpet comparison away from production redstone.

For a Realm or managed server, confirm the service’s edition and current version before asking players to update. A matching drop name does not fix a client/server version mismatch. Keep the primary world offline until the owner accepts the copied-world readback.

First-session checklist

Use a dedicated animal-care chest for breeding, naming, and Golden Dandelion supplies.

Label the baby mob chosen to remain young and keep a normal-growth comparison.

Do not test the first interaction on an irreplaceable named animal.

Create separate note-block stations for the copper states and keep power consistent.

Record edition, version, sound settings, and pack order when comparing trumpet audio.

Save, exit, and reopen the copied world after the animal and audio tests.

Troubleshoot and rollback

If the recipe is absent, confirm the exact edition/version and compare it with that edition’s official changelog; do not infer a hidden breeding prerequisite or transfer the Java recipe to Bedrock without source support. If the animal result differs, stop spending items and repeat with a disposable test subject. If the trumpet sound does not match the expected comparison, verify the copper block below the note block, oxidation state, sound settings, and resource-pack order.

If the copied world fails to save, entities behave unexpectedly, or a required pack breaks, stop the rollout. Restore the verified pre-update world with its matching game version, server files, packs, add-ons, and permissions. Do not treat opening the updated save in an older release as a safe rollback.

Official release versions and sources

Creator: Mojang Studios. Editions: Java & Bedrock. Release versions: Java 26.1; Bedrock 26.10. Released: March 24, 2026.

Minecraft Java Edition 26.1

Minecraft Bedrock Edition 26.10 — Tiny Takeover

Tiny Takeover overview

Official sources checked August 28, 2026.

Spring to Life released March 25, 2025. The exact boundary for this guide is Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.5 and Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.70. Mojang Studios is the creator. Use the complete edition/version tuple before deciding that an ambient plant, sound, or mob variant is missing.

Make the first session a biome survey

The official Bedrock changelog adds ambient plants and sounds alongside new mob variants. It describes Firefly Bushes that emit particles in darkness, illuminate nearby space, and produce ambient sounds at night when the sky is visible. It also adds Cactus Flowers, Leaf Litter, Bushes, and short and tall dry grass with biome-specific placement rules.

This is an exploration and landscaping release, not a reason to rebuild the base immediately. Begin with a survey route. Visit water edges after dark for the Firefly Bush conditions described in the Bedrock record. Keep desert and badlands plants separate from forest-floor materials. Use a small test plot to compare Leaf Litter orientation and density before applying it across an established build.

Exact release tuple

Field

Required boundary

Creator

Mojang Studios

Java release

1.21.5

Bedrock release

1.21.70

Release date

March 25, 2025

Distribution

Official Minecraft game update

The edition changelogs establish both releases. The detailed ambient behavior above is bounded to the official Bedrock 1.21.70 record; consult Java 1.21.5 for exact Java behavior. Cross-edition does not guarantee identical ambience, controls, particle settings, placement, render distance, or performance on every device. MineBrush did not test a specific device, seed, server, Realm, or pack combination.

Safe update path for an old world

Record the current edition, full version, seed, server or Realm state, packs, add-ons, and the coordinates of important builds.

Stop the world cleanly and make a complete backup outside the active save location.

Restore the backup to a disposable profile or server path. Prove that it opens, saves, closes, and reopens.

Update the copy to Java 1.21.5 or Bedrock 1.21.70.

Inspect familiar builds, entities, portals, farms, inventories, and pack behavior before exploring.

Use a marked route and collect only a small sample of each new landscaping material.

Promote the updated copy only after the owner accepts existing-world readback and the test plot.

The official changelogs do not guarantee that a particular old seed puts new plants next to an existing base. Failing to find them nearby is not proof of a broken installation. Preserve the coordinates and whether the area was previously explored when documenting the result.

Useful survey checklist

Take a bed, ordinary tools, labeled storage, and a way to record coordinates.

Separate daytime plant collection from nighttime ambience observation.

For Firefly Bushes, record darkness, nearby light, water-edge context, time, sky visibility, edition, and graphics settings.

Build one small plot for Leaf Litter, Bushes, Cactus Flowers, and dry grass rather than mixing every material into the main build.

Compare the same scene without promising identical particles or sounds across devices.

Troubleshoot and rollback

If an expected material is absent, verify the edition and complete release number, then consult the matching changelog for its placement rule. If ambience differs, record time, light, sky visibility, graphics, sound settings, and device before calling it a content failure. If a pack changes textures or particles, reproduce the copied world with the recorded pack order and remove only one optional layer at a time.

Stop the rollout if the world fails to save or reopen, existing entities or builds change unexpectedly, or a required pack becomes unusable. Rollback means restoring the verified pre-update world with its original version, packs, add-ons, permissions, and server files. It is not a promise that newer blocks will downgrade safely.

Official release versions and sources

Creator: Mojang Studios. Editions: Java & Bedrock. Release versions: Java 1.21.5; Bedrock 1.21.70. Released: March 25, 2025.

Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.5 — Spring to Life

Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.70 — Spring to Life

Official sources checked August 28, 2026.

Bundles of Bravery released October 22, 2024. The exact boundary for this guide is Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.2 and Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.40. Mojang Studios is the creator. The drop combines a reusable inventory tool with a much higher-risk world choice, so treat them as separate decisions.

Bundles solve organization, not unlimited capacity

The official overview says bundles can combine partial stacks of different item types and can be dyed in sixteen colors. A useful setup assigns each color a purpose: food, building samples, redstone parts, archaeology finds, or emergency supplies. Practice reading and removing contents near a storage chest before depending on a bundle during a long expedition.

A bundle does not erase capacity limits. Do not fill it randomly and assume every item fits equally. Keep high-value gear outside the first practice set, and test how the interface feels with the actual control method used by each player. Keyboard, controller, and touch prompts should not be assumed identical.

For a shared expedition, publish the color convention before departure and keep one ordinary chest as a reset point. If players interpret the same color differently, organization fails even when the item works exactly as designed.

Hardcore is a separate risk decision

The official overview says Bedrock Hardcore locks the game to the highest difficulty and permits one life; after death, the player can spectate but not respawn. It also says Hardcore is available on Realms for Bedrock and Java and recommends regular world backups. That is not ordinary Survival with a badge. A group should decide in advance how play continues when one member becomes a spectator.

Exact release tuple

Field

Required boundary

Creator

Mojang Studios

Java release

1.21.2

Bedrock release

1.21.40

Release date

October 22, 2024

Distribution

Official Minecraft game update

Use the Java and Bedrock changelogs for exact edition-specific behavior. The shared release name does not make server settings, interfaces, controls, or Realm timing identical. MineBrush did not test a specific device, Realm, old world, bundle interface, backup service, or multiplayer rule set.

Safe update and backup path

Record the current edition, full version, world mode, difficulty, server or Realm owner, packs, add-ons, and player permissions.

Stop the world cleanly and copy it outside the active game or server directory.

Restore the copy into a disposable location. Open, save, close, and reopen it before calling the backup usable.

Update the copy to Java 1.21.2 or Bedrock 1.21.40.

Test ordinary Survival first: inventories, bundles, entities, portals, commands, and multiplayer joins.

If the owner wants Hardcore, create a separate test world. Do not convert the only important shared world merely to inspect the mode.

Write a continuing-player and spectator plan before the first serious group session.

First useful bundle test

Dye two bundles different colors and assign each one a written purpose.

Load partial stacks of expendable items, then practice viewing and removing them.

Empty the bundle before assuming its capacity or interface behavior.

Keep one ordinary inventory column free for unexpected loot.

For multiplayer, use the same color convention across the group.

Troubleshoot and roll back

If a bundle interaction differs, confirm the edition, complete version, and control method. If a Realm or server rejects a player, compare the service version with the client instead of recreating the world. If Hardcore options or death behavior are unclear, stop and consult the matching edition record before committing an important world.

Rollback means restoring the verified pre-update tuple: world, original version, server files, packs, add-ons, permissions, and mode. Backups do not create extra Hardcore lives, but they protect against corruption, platform failure, or an update problem. Never overwrite the known-good backup with the only updated copy.

Official release versions and sources

Creator: Mojang Studios. Editions: Java & Bedrock. Release versions: Java 1.21.2; Bedrock 1.21.40. Released: October 22, 2024.

Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.2 — Bundles of Bravery

Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.40 — Bundles of Bravery

Bundles of Bravery overview

Official sources checked August 28, 2026.

Armored Paws is the April 23, 2024 release represented here by Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.5 and Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.20.80. Mojang Studios is the creator. Match the full edition/version tuple before diagnosing missing armadillos, wolf armor, or server behavior.

Companion protection and a separate technical change

The official Java changelog adds armadillos, armadillo scutes, wolf armor, and new wolf variants. It says wolf armor is made from scutes, can be dyed and repaired with scutes, and can be equipped only on a tame adult wolf by its owner. The same Java release also changes the default spawn-chunk radius and exposes it through the
spawnChunkRadius
game rule.

Those topics should not be blended into one vague performance claim. Run the companion session first: find the appropriate warm-biome route, gather scutes with a brush, and test one owned adult wolf with ordinary travel gear. Run a server technical test separately. Record the existing game-rule value before changing anything, then compare the same controlled workload. Do not treat one quiet server session as proof of a fixed performance gain.

Photograph or write down the wolf’s owner, armor color, visible condition, and stored supplies before travel. That record makes a repair or interaction problem easier to reproduce without risking another companion.

Exact release tuple

Field

Required boundary

Creator

Mojang Studios

Java release

1.20.5

Bedrock release

1.20.80

Release date

April 23, 2024

Distribution

Official Minecraft game update

The official edition changelogs establish both final releases. The detailed armor and game-rule statements above are bounded to the Java record; use the Bedrock 1.20.80 changelog for exact Bedrock mechanics and controls. Cross-edition does not mean commands, interfaces, spawning, or performance behave identically.

Safe update path

Record the current edition, complete version, server software, packs, add-ons, gamerules, and the location of important named or tamed animals.

Stop the world cleanly and create a complete backup outside the active save location.

Restore the backup to a disposable profile or server path. Verify open, save, stop, and reopen before updating.

Update the copy to Java 1.20.5 or Bedrock 1.20.80.

Check existing wolves, leads, inventories, portals, farms, commands, and server permissions.

Test armor dyeing, equipping, repair, and removal on one owned adult wolf. Do not use the only valuable companion for the first test.

Only after that, run a separate spawn-chunk-radius comparison if the Java server owner needs it.

Realm and hosted-server owners may not control exact update timing or every technical setting. Compare the server’s displayed edition and version with all clients. MineBrush did not test a specific host, old seed, wolf variant distribution, device, brush route, pack, or game-rule performance result.

Player checklist for wolf armor

Confirm the wolf is tamed, adult, and owned by the player doing the test.

Keep spare scutes available for repair instead of assuming ordinary armor materials work.

Try color and removal behavior in a safe pen before a long expedition.

Carry food, a bed, and a marked return route; armor does not remove every travel risk.

Record the version when reporting a missing interaction.

Troubleshoot and rollback

If armor cannot be equipped, verify ownership, age, edition, and full version before changing packs. If expected animals or variants are not found near an old base, do not call the update broken from that fact alone. If server behavior changes, restore the recorded game-rule value and reproduce the same workload in the copied world.

Stop the rollout if saves, entities, packs, or permissions fail. Rollback means restoring the verified pre-update world with its matching game version, server files, packs, add-ons, and gamerules.

Mounts of Mayhem released on December 9, 2025. This guide is bounded to Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11 and Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.130. Mojang Studios is the creator. The shared drop name does not make a Java client, a Bedrock Realm, and every third-party server equivalent.

Plan for movement before damage

The official overview introduces the spear and says its damage can scale with the wielder’s speed. The Lunge enchantment adds a burst of movement to a jab. The drop also brings mounted threats and travel opportunities: zombie horses, zombie nautilus, camel husks, and the parched appear in the official overview, which also frames nautilus riding around underwater travel and air preservation.

That is enough to define a safe first session, not an exact damage chart. Begin on level ground with ordinary equipment. Practice stationary jabs before comparing a moving attack, and learn where a Lunge ends before using it near cliffs, lava, structures, or other players. Separate a desert rider session from an underwater nautilus session so a failure has one clear context.

Keep the first comparison observable: one lane, one target type, one movement state, and one recovery point. Preserve the same difficulty and equipment instead of changing several variables after every hit.

Exact release tuple

Field

Required boundary

Creator

Mojang Studios

Java release

1.21.11

Bedrock release

1.21.130

Release date

December 9, 2025

Distribution

Official Minecraft game update

Use the edition-specific changelog for exact mechanics, controls, fixes, and commands. MineBrush has not produced damage tables, spawn rates, drop rates, taming odds, or device benchmarks for this release. A creator overview describes the feature set; it does not prove the same combat timing on keyboard, controller, and touch.

Safe update path for travel worlds and servers

Record the edition, full game version, server software, world seed, difficulty, packs, add-ons, and permissions.

Stop the active world and create a complete backup outside its working directory.

Restore the backup to a disposable profile or server. Verify that it opens, saves, stops, and reopens before updating.

Update the copy to Java 1.21.11 or Bedrock 1.21.130.

Check player inventories, saddled or named mobs, portals, water routes, and important bases before seeking new encounters.

Use expendable gear for stationary spear, moving spear, mounted desert, and underwater tests as separate passes.

Promote the updated copy only after the owner accepts the results.

For multiplayer, define friendly-fire rules and a recovery point before testing speed-scaled attacks. For underwater travel, mark a surface route and place replacement supplies at a known location. A Realm or managed host may control update timing, so compare the service version with every client before troubleshooting content.

Focused first-session checklist

Practice a stationary spear jab and a moving attack in a clear test lane.

Test Lunge away from drops, valuable animals, and other players.

Carry pufferfish only when the session deliberately includes a nautilus-taming attempt.

Keep desert and underwater recovery kits in separate labeled containers.

Mark a safe dismount route before carrying rare gear.

Write down the edition and control method when reporting an input problem.

Troubleshoot and rollback

If expected content is absent, verify the exact edition and full version first. If attacks feel inconsistent, remove the uncontrolled variables: use the same test lane, movement state, difficulty, target, and equipment, without publishing an invented damage value. If a mob, world, pack, or server fails after the update, stop the rollout and preserve the first reproducible state.

Rollback means restoring the verified pre-update world and its matching game/server tuple. Do not overwrite the backup with a world that has already saved newer entities or blocks, and do not promise that a simple version downgrade will reverse the update.

Official release versions and sources

Creator: Mojang Studios. Editions: Java & Bedrock. Release versions: Java 1.21.11; Bedrock 1.21.130. Released: December 9, 2025.

Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11 — Mounts of Mayhem

Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.130 — Mounts of Mayhem

Mounts of Mayhem overview

Official sources checked August 28, 2026.

The Copper Age release boundary in this guide is Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.9 and Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.111, released September 30, 2025 by Mojang Studios. Match the edition and full version before copying a redstone layout, reporting a missing recipe, or updating a shared world.

Turn the copper systems into a small prototype

The official Java changelog identifies Copper Chests, Copper Golems, copper equipment, copper decorations, and Shelves. It says Copper Golems can move items from Copper Chests into matching or empty chests and can eventually oxidize into statues unless waxed. It also says Shelves hold three stacks, while powered connected Shelves can exchange contents with hotbar slots.

Those mechanics invite a huge storage rebuild, but the safer first step is a test bay. Place one clearly labeled Copper Chest as input, a few ordinary destination chests, and only disposable items. Observe where items go before expanding the line. Keep sorting behavior separate from oxidation: wax one comparison subject and leave another exposed. Test a powered Shelf with expendable blocks before putting tools, enchanted gear, or rare materials into the hotbar.

Write down the layout before each change. Capture chest contents, power state, wax state, and the order of the hotbar. A useful test answers one question at a time: whether an item moves, where it moves, or whether a Shelf exchange matches the planned slot. It does not turn a short observation into a universal farm design.

Exact release tuple

Field

Required boundary

Creator

Mojang Studios

Java release

1.21.9

Bedrock release

1.21.111

Release date

September 30, 2025

Distribution

Official Minecraft game update

The edition changelogs establish the final release numbers. The detailed mechanism summary above comes from the Java 1.21.9 record; use the Bedrock 1.21.111 record for exact Bedrock behavior and controls. This page does not claim identical redstone timing, interface behavior, sorting throughput, or device performance across editions.

Safe world and server update

Record the current edition, version, server software, packs, add-ons, permissions, and important redstone locations.

Stop the world cleanly and make a complete backup outside the active directory.

Restore the backup into a disposable path. Open, save, close, and reopen it before treating the backup as usable.

Update the copy to Java 1.21.9 or Bedrock 1.21.111.

Check existing storage, hoppers, comparators, inventories, entities, and chunk-loading areas before adding copper automation.

Build the small Copper Chest, Copper Golem, and Shelf prototype away from the production storage room.

Promote the updated copy only after the owner accepts both the old-system readback and the new prototype.

A hosted server or Realm may update on its own schedule. Every participant must still match the service’s edition and full version. MineBrush did not measure a particular server host, redstone clock, farm design, device, old world, or third-party pack.

Troubleshoot one system at a time

No expected item movement: confirm the release and use a minimal input/destination layout. Do not diagnose a large mixed storage room first.

Items reach the wrong chest: label the test inventory, empty unrelated destinations, and record the observed route without assuming a throughput guarantee.

Oxidation changes the plan: compare waxed and unwaxed subjects. Keep appearance tests separate from item-routing tests.

Shelf swap surprises the player: repeat with disposable items, stable power, and a recorded hotbar order.

Existing automation breaks: stop expanding the prototype and retest the copied pre-update world with the original version and pack order.

Rollback boundary

Rollback is a restore, not a downgrade experiment. Return the verified pre-update world together with the original game version, server files, packs, add-ons, and permissions. Do not assume copper blocks, entities, or inventories saved by the newer release will remain valid in an older one.

Official release versions and sources

Creator: Mojang Studios. Editions: Java & Bedrock. Release versions: Java 1.21.9; Bedrock 1.21.111. Released: September 30, 2025.

Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.9

Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.111 — The Copper Age

Official sources checked August 28, 2026.

Chase the Skies arrived on June 17, 2025. The exact final-release boundary used here is Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.6 and Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.90. Mojang Studios is the creator. Check the full number before following a guide, joining a server, or deciding that a feature is missing.

What changes the way a group travels

The official overview describes a progression from dried ghast to ghastling and then happy ghast. A happy ghast can use a dyeable harness for flight. The same drop introduces the Player Locator Bar, which helps show other players in multiplayer; crouching can hide a player from that display. Together, those features turn the update into a coordination problem as much as a collection task.

Before a group starts, choose one objective: raise the creature, learn the flight controls, move supplies, or build at altitude. Trying all four with valuable gear on the first session creates avoidable confusion. Establish a clear launch area, a wide landing area, spare storage on the ground, and an agreed signal for a player who intentionally crouches out of the locator display.

Assign one player to observe from the ground during the first flight. That person can confirm the route, recover dropped supplies, and distinguish a control problem from poor landing visibility.

Exact release tuple

Field

Required boundary

Creator

Mojang Studios

Java release

1.21.6

Bedrock release

1.21.90

Release date

June 17, 2025

Distribution

Official Minecraft game update

The overview supports both editions, but it does not prove identical controls, render distance, device performance, or Vibrant Visuals availability everywhere. A Java server and a Bedrock client do not become compatible merely because the drop name matches. Use the edition-specific changelog for technical details.

Safe update path

Write down the edition and full version for the world owner, server, and every participating client.

Stop the world cleanly and make a complete backup outside the active save location.

Restore the backup into a disposable test profile or server path. A backup that has never opened is not yet a verified restore.

Update the copy to Java 1.21.6 or Bedrock 1.21.90. Keep resource packs and add-ons in their recorded order.

Open familiar builds, check player inventories and entities, save, close, and reopen.

Run the first happy-ghast and locator-bar session with expendable supplies.

Move the primary world only after the owner accepts the test result.

On Realms, consoles, or hosted services, update timing may be controlled by the platform. If the server rejects a connection, compare the displayed edition and full version instead of reinstalling randomly. MineBrush did not test a specific Realm, server host, controller, graphics mode, phone, or third-party pack.

First-session checklist

Keep the raising process separate from the first flight test so the group knows which step failed.

Practice boarding, steering, landing, and dismounting without rare inventory.

Agree whether the locator bar is being used for regrouping or disabled tactically by crouching.

Do not place the only storage platform where a failed landing can strand the group.

Verify each player’s controls locally; do not assume keyboard, controller, and touch prompts match.

Troubleshoot and roll back

If a player cannot see expected content, first confirm the edition and exact release. If the locator result differs, check whether the player is crouching before treating it as a bug. If controls, visuals, or performance differ by device, preserve that device’s version and settings in the report. If the copied world stops saving, entities vanish, or a required pack fails, stop the rollout and restore the verified pre-update tuple.

Rollback means restoring the old world together with its old game version, server files, add-ons, resource packs, and permissions. It is not a promise that content saved in a newer release will downgrade safely.

Official release versions and sources

Creator: Mojang Studios. Editions: Java & Bedrock. Release versions: Java 1.21.6; Bedrock 1.21.90. Released: June 17, 2025.

Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.6

Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.90 — Chase the Skies

Chase the Skies overview

Official sources checked August 28, 2026.

The Garden Awakens is the December 3, 2024 Minecraft game drop. The exact release boundary for this guide is Java Edition 1.21.4 and Bedrock Edition 1.21.50. Mojang Studios is the creator. Do not use the Java number to judge a Bedrock client, or the Bedrock number to judge a Java server.

What the update gives a player

The headline destination is the Pale Garden. Mojang’s Java changelog identifies the Pale Oak wood set, Pale Moss, Eyeblossoms, the Creaking, the Creaking Heart, and the Resin block family. That makes the drop useful for two very different sessions: a daytime material run and a controlled nighttime encounter.

Bring ordinary tools, food, a bed, light, and a way to record coordinates. Leave rare gear at home until the return route and encounter behavior are understood.

Plan the first trip instead of wandering with a full inventory. During daylight, identify the biome, mark a return route, collect renewable-looking building materials cautiously, and reserve inventory slots for the wood, moss, flowers, and resin-related items you actually confirm. At night, treat the Creaking as an encounter tied to its environment. The official Java record says that striking a Creaking connected to a heart exposes a particle trail toward that heart. Observe the trail before tearing through random blocks.

Use the exact edition and version

Field

Required boundary

Creator

Mojang Studios

Java release

1.21.4

Bedrock release

1.21.50

Release date

December 3, 2024

Distribution

Official Minecraft game update

Cross-edition does not mean every menu, control, command, server setting, or device result is identical. Use the matching official changelog when a detail matters. This page does not convert a Java mechanic into a Bedrock guarantee, and it does not claim that a particular old seed will place a Pale Garden near an existing base.

Safe update path for a world or server

Record the current edition and full version number for every client and server.

Stop the world or server cleanly. Make a complete backup and keep it outside the active game directory.

Restore that backup into a disposable test location before updating the only copy.

Update the test client or server to the matching release: Java 1.21.4 or Bedrock 1.21.50.

Disable optional packs or add-ons only if you have recorded them and can restore the same order.

Open the copied world, visit known builds, save, exit, reopen, and verify inventories, entities, portals, redstone, and permissions.

Only then explore for the new content. Promote the updated copy after the owner accepts the result.

For Realms, hosted servers, and managed consoles, the owner may not control update timing. Confirm the service version before joining with the only copy of an important world. MineBrush did not test a specific host, device, seed, Realm, resource pack, or add-on combination.

Troubleshoot without guessing

No Pale Garden nearby: confirm the exact version first. A missing biome near a base is not proof that the update failed; the official sources do not guarantee placement for a specific seed or explored area.

Players cannot join: compare edition and full version on the client and server. Similar-looking 1.21 numbers are not interchangeable.

A pack looks wrong: reproduce the issue on the copied world with the recorded pack order, then test one optional pack change at a time.

The world behaves incorrectly: stop testing, preserve logs or screenshots, and return to the verified pre-update backup.

Rollback boundary

Do not open the only pre-update world repeatedly in a newer release while “testing.” Rollback means restoring the known-good backup with its original game version, packs, add-ons, server files, and permissions. New blocks or entities saved by a later version are not promised to survive a downgrade.

Official release versions and sources

Creator: Mojang Studios. Editions: Java & Bedrock. Release versions: Java 1.21.4; Bedrock 1.21.50. Released: December 3, 2024.

Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.4

Minecraft Bedrock Edition 1.21.50 — The Garden Awakens

The Garden Awakens overview

Official sources checked August 28, 2026.

Tricky Trials launched on June 13, 2024 for Java Edition 1.21 and Bedrock Edition 1.21. Its central destination is the Trial Chamber: a generated underground structure built around combat rooms, trial spawners, keys, vaults, and an optional ominous branch. Make your first visit a reconnaissance run, not a race for the mace.

Original MineBrush editorial illustration for this guide. Official release records remain authoritative for game mechanics.

Learn the standard loop before the ominous one

Two challenge paths in the original 1.21 release

Path

Release-record elements

First-run goal

Standard chamber

Trial spawners, trial keys, and vaults

Understand room flow, retreat points, and group response

Ominous chamber

Bad Omen, Trial Omen, ominous spawners, ominous keys, and ominous vaults

Opt into the harder branch only after the normal loop makes sense

Turn the entrance into a real retreat point

Before crossing into active rooms, mark the route back to the surface and place only replaceable supplies outside the combat area. Decide what ends the attempt: depleted food, broken equipment, a separated group, or a lost return route. A visible stopping rule is more useful than an “optimal” loadout copied from another player.

Bring tools you already understand: food, defensive gear, blocks, light sources, and a recovery plan. The 1.21 notes describe the Breeze and Bogged as different combat problems, so one ranged or melee habit will not answer every room.

Read one trial spawner at a time

A trial spawner creates a limited encounter. The official Java record says its challenge rises for each additional nearby player it notices, and that it spawns a limited number of mobs based on the current challenge level.

Pause at the room edge and identify exits, hazards, and places where the group could split.

Agree who is entering; an extra player can affect the encounter.

Clear one active space before opening a second front.

Check supplies and the retreat route before moving deeper.

Room layouts and spawner categories vary. MineBrush did not run a Trial Chamber and does not promise a completion time or difficulty rating.

Treat vaults as player-specific checkpoints

Standard vaults require trial keys. The 1.21 record says a vault can be unlocked by many different players, while each player can unlock that same vault only once. In a group, record who has used which vault instead of assuming one interaction settled the room for everyone.

Keep standard keys and vaults separate from their ominous versions. If a key does not match the expected vault, verify the exact item name and the release notes for your edition before reporting a bug.

Choose the ominous branch deliberately

In the 1.21 baseline, Bad Omen can transform into Trial Omen when a player enters the detection range of a non-ominous trial spawner.
